AWESOME: I travelled through SPACE and reached The Green Queen Market

THE SPACE – That was the name of the place were The Green Queen Market took place last Saturday and space was pretty much were we ended from 11am to 4pm – in absolute space let me tell you!

We should have lasted until 6pm, but we were sold out by 4pm. I am saying we were in space because from the moment we arrived until about 4pm we were in a different world. I honestly didn’t know what just happened to us as so many people were coming to us, or maybe that was my impression as it was the first time I was doing a market in HK. It was much different than the one I have done back home in the street of my hometown. But I have to say that The Green Queen did an amazing job in organizing and communicating on the market. It was a market for locally made, homegrown, natural and organic goods, mainly food. Beautiful food!

Actually, I wanted to take nice photos – as a matter of fact, my colleague brought his camera, and well, we didn’t shoot one photo! The above was taken within the first hour using a phone. And the below were taken earlier at the bakery. It was a very good occasion for us to feature local homegrown foods, and so, I used organic cherry tomato to bake a focaccia and organic passion fruit (yes grown in Hong Kong!) to bake passion fruit muffins. It was awesome!

At the end of the day, I pretty much looked like a zombie. But wow, I loved it! There was much more than just being there for the sake of being there. The human connection with like-minded people was really good and uplifting. All the 30 vendors present at the market and all the thousand’s of people visiting it were the perfect embodied example that living better is possible, all at a very reasonable price! We need more markets like this in Hong Kong and we need to show everyone that living better is possible, not just for the week-end market, but for a sustainable future and for our children. Maybe visiting such market would dissuade some reluctant supporter of the lab-made beef patties! ;)

Well done Green Queen! Let’s do it again!
