The winners of the photo contest!

April 13th, 2011 | Posted by greg in Books | Charity | Daily life...

A massive thank you to all the participants!

I wish there would have been a few more photos for the competition, but never mind, we’ve got some great quality shots!

The goal of this photo contest was to motivate the fund raising for Emmanuel Homes, which happened to be very successful. The goal was reached in 1 month and 4 days. Those US$2,000 are not the largest fund ever raised, obviously, but for my humble ‘homemade’ blog, I think it’s fairly sizable.

Together with my colleagues, we had to pick 5 winners. The question was: “what photo tickles you? ” The task was fun and we discussed lengthily on which photo was better and why…

Below are the five winning photos in no particular order…

Puglian food culture made sweet by Angie (Italy)

Angie’s blog is in Italian, but definitely worth a visit!

Black truffle on Wagyu Beef by Bertrand (Hong Kong)

Talk about Black Truffle! …but “where’s the beef?” ;)

Artichokes by Chris Ford (USA)

Special mention from Chris’s blog:

“Life is like eating artichokes, you have to go through so much to get so little”

Thomas Aloysius Dorgan

Breads from Damascas Gate, Western Wall of Temple Mount, Jerusalem, Israel - By Celene (Hong Kong)

Celene happens to be the driving force behind Giving Bread – a truly spiritual photo and a whole bunch of breads!

Balsamic drizzled baked Brie

That photo is pure indulgence – I love it! But I can’t find the name of the person who posted it! If you happen to be the one, please leave a comment below, thank you!

Sardine Tartine by Jeremy (USA)

In the meantime, you’ve got to love the spirit behind Jeremy’s Sardine Tartine!

Congratulations to all the winners and thank you to all the participants!

Each winner will be contacted separately in the next few days regarding the shipping of the book!

These are beautiful photos, and I have enjoyed looking at them. So glad you were able to raise money for your charity. Every little helps.

  • I love all these beautiful photos. Surely the intention of the photographer can be felt by the viewer…

A photo competition – and for a good cause – is such a great idea. Well done for organising!

    Sorry I missed entering.

Perhaps you will run the Michaud Food Photo Competition annually?!

Thanks for your constructive comments Elisabeth!
Yes, the fact the money could be raised to help the Children is really the main point, and all that made possible by lovely passionate people around the world!
I like your idea of an annual photo contest!
