Peacock wedding cake in the endless hours of the night…

December 10th, 2010 | Posted by Gregoire Michaud in Daily life...

I won’t tell you how many hours our team worked on this cake, or else you’ll denounce me to the labor department for abuse! :)

It doesn’t matter how many wedding cakes we’ve done, there is never one like the other and once completed and fully setup in our ballroom for the big day, it always gives us a tremendous satisfaction to see people going ‘WOW!

The challenge of the peacock was its weight; hard to support and at the same time, we had to make it look elegant and not so much like a turkey! :) The height of the cake was about 6 ft. tall! But before we even figured out how to make it stand, we had to do our homework on whether there was any differences between male and female peacock – and indeed, a difference is the least to say.

The theme of the wedding was revolving around birds, peacocks, nest and so on… it was very grand!

    Hi Chef Gregoire,

It’s so amazing! It looks so real that is wonderful!!!

I think you all did spend a lot of time to get it done! Well done, you and your team!

The feathers look like the real ones, so pretty the whole figure!!!

I was dreaming I were one of your teammates to help! I am sure that I can learn a lot!

    Very impressed!!!

Thank you so much Natalie, I appreciate your kind comments! :)

Its absolutely gorgeous. I’m just curious about the feathers on the tail. What was your thought process behind choosing – gold/yellow? Because peacocks are known for their multiple hues of blues and greens. Was it the couples color theme that restricted you?

  • Gregoire

Hello Kim, thanks for your comments! You are right, the natural hues are much more colorful, but in this case, we were restricted by the theme colors. They wanted to stay gold and white to contrast with the whole room that was dressed in all shades of red. :)

Hi Gregoire, I mean Wow and stunning cake i have ever seen … how long did that wedidng cake took you to make and how many days ?

    • Gregoire Michaud

It was very long (and almost boring!) to prepare all the small feather of the peacocks! I remember the day before we had to put it up we finished work at 1am! But the next day, when we had to set it up on stage it was magical! :)
